Boon's Markt

The most local supermarket in the Netherlands, that was the starting point for the new MDC formula. With the motto 'It is possible!'. The prejudice that 'small and local' will also mean expensive is taken away. Boon's Market shows that a small-scale, local character and very good fresh produce can indeed be combined with a low price. Meanwhile, several MCD stores have been converted to the new Boon's Market concept. And they are preforming above expectations!

The turnover of the Boon's Markts in Vlaardingen, Woudrichem and Kerkdriel grew by an average of 40 percent after opening.

"The Dutch market for supermarkets seems to be saturated. Nevertheless, the local Dutch supermarket chain MCD saw opportunities for a local and friendly formula. As a family business, MCD wanted to profile itself against the large national players in the Netherlands, such as market leader Albert Heijn and the number two Jumbo. Together with the Boon family, JosDeVries searched for the gap in the market for a new MCD formula: Boon's Market. "
